One of the first steps in organizing your own exercise program is to identify what your exercise personality is. In order to do this, it helps to ask yourself the following questions. You may want to write down the answers.
After you have discovered the answers to your exercise personality, you can begin to schedule and implement an exercise program that will actually work for you.
1. What type of exercise do you like to do?
2. What do you think is good for your body to do?
3. What has worked for you in the past?
4. What do you feel would make a difference right now?
5. Where do your injuries come from?
After you see how you have answered the above questions, formulate and schedule an exercise program that will reflect your desires.
Remember to use positive, committed language. Schedule yourself to take the actions and build your exercise habits with rigor and discipline.
Follow through, no matter what distractions, interruptions, or other “sabotage” habits you notice that make an effort to interfere with your fitness breakthrough.
Commit to your program! If you fall off the wagon, so to speak, simply get back on. Start up. Just do it. Period. Hold yourself accountable and to a high standard. Don’t give up if you mess up. Just get back on the horse!
Your Personal Lifework Assignment: Complete the exercise above and begin to implement your exercise program this week!
Until next time, I leave this quote with you:
“A man’s health can be judged by which he takes two at a time – pills or stairs.” — Joan Welsh
What did you discover about your exercise personality after answering the above six questions? Post your comments below.
