MY Top Ten Reasons for Wanting to Lose Weight NOW!
February 1, 2010 1 CommentI believe that when we put a name or face to our problem, it’s not as easy to push it aside. I’m just plain thick ‘n tired of being fat. This year, 2010, is MY year to get to my goal weight (140 pounds). I WILL do it, and I expect you all to help keep me accountable.
Anyway, here are my top 10 reasons for wanting to lose weight, in no particular order.
1. I want to be able to see my reflection in a window or mirror without the immediate urge to toss my cookies. (Note to self: Perhaps if you’d lay off the cookies, you wouldn’t be in this predicament in the first place!)
2. I want to be able to wear my cute skinny clothes again. Have you noticed that you just can’t find cute fat clothes? Even if they did exist, they wouldn’t look cute because, unless I’m mistaken, fat is only cute on babies.
3. I don’t want my children to be embarrassed of me. My hope is that my two younger children will have no memory of my weight challenges or ever witness me like this, and I hope my two older ones will see what pain this has caused me and will choose more wisely.
4. I want to inspire others with my success and help them to achieve their weight loss goals. This is definitely a HUGE one for me. One of my greatest passions is to help people with this very issue, but difficult to be effective when your body fat percentage is 77%!!!
5. I want to make more room in my brain for other things rather than have almost every waking moment be consumed by thoughts about hating the way I look, the way my clothes fit (or don’t), or wondering what people must think of my obvious lack of self-discipline.
6. I want only one set of boobs, like everyone else! I’m tired of having to wear “old lady” bra’s. When I try to wear something cute or sexy, my boobs multiply. I’ve got the normal pair, plus several that spill out over the top and sides. Yuck!!
7. I absolutely ABHOR back fat! Need I say more? I should not be able to store up food for the winter between skin folds. Ewwww.
8. I want more self-confidence. I can only speak for myself here, but the challenges I’ve had over the years with my weight have greatly impacted my personality, how I view myself, my marriage, my parenting, and the list goes on. The times that I have been thin, I experienced such a zest for life and felt on top of the world – like I could do ANYTHING! I no longer felt imprisoned by my own body; I felt free to be who I really am and genuinely loved who I was. This may be shallow, but it is what it is.
9. I want to have more energy to play with my little munchkins. I don’t want to huff and puff when I’m pulling them in a wheelbarrow up and down the street. I want to be able to go down the slide with them and play on the jungle gym. I don’t want my childrens’ quality of life to be dampened in any way by my petty addiction to food.
10. I want to be around for as long as I can so I can enjoy an enriched life with my amazing husband and my four wonderful children. I don’t want to miss a moment. I want to see the cute little pictures they draw, hear about their days at school, see them off on their first date, be there for them when their heart is aching, watch them graduate, get married. I long to kiss and hold my sweet little grand-babies and celebrate their birthdays. Ok, I better stop or I’ll need to make a Kleenex run.
I have the most wonderful husband in the WORLD! He loves me no matter what I look like. When I’m all done up and when I look like a mom. He has never once made me feel unloved due to my weight or pressured me to look different than I do, and I adore him for that. HOWEVER, he deserves better for being the husband that he is, and I genuinely want that for him.
Well, I have many more reasons, but I’d say those are some pretty good ones, huh? I know I’m still a ways from my goal, but I want you to know that I’m still here for you to cheer you on.
2010 is our year! LET’S DO THIS!!
